Endonasal lacrimal duct surgery
With the concept of endonasal paranasal sinus surgery, for lacrimal duct drainage impairments accompanied by increased secretions of the lacrimal duct and frequent inflammations of the affected eye, the lacrimal duct is directly accessed by way of the nose and a silicone tubule implanted. The tubule serves here for the splinting of the lacrimal duct and is removed in the out patient clinic following a certain period of time. A complex operative procedure with incisions from the outside and the resulting long hospital stay are no longer necessary.
Possible causes of a lacrimal duct impairment are inflammations of the paranasal sinuses, stone or tumour formation in the lacrimal duct, and injuries.
Technique: endonasal microscopic
Required stay: one night image diode laser
Anaesthesia: general anaesthesia
Dressing: light nasal tamponade one night
Pain: virtually none, silicone tubule tolerated without problems
Desired result: following removal of the silicone tubule
