Corrective eyelid surgery
Drooping eyelids with the formation of hooded eyelids call up a tired and even an unfriendly facial appearance. The cause can be hereditary or age-related. The intervention is performed mostly from the age of 35 on.
Procedure
Excessive skin and muscle tissue of the eyelid is resected under local anaesthesia. The incision is made in the fold of the eyelid and is therefore not visible.
For lower lid corrections, a skin resection is made via a concealed incision below the eyebrows and excessive fatty tissue is removed.
Post-operative cooling and the administration of medicine for the reduction of swelling ensure that only minimal swelling occurs. In the lower lid region, however, this requires a longer time to subside. Sunglasses can be of help for protection against light sensitivity and to cover over the swelling.
Medicine for the thinning of the blood should not be taken for at least 14 days before the operation.
