Corrective surgery for the chin and cheeks

Over the years the skin and fascia slacken and the face ages.
Face lifting and fillers can counteract this trend. However, a face appears aesthetic only when the bony projection of the cheek and chin region is in order, even when the ageing face shows folds. The middle third of the face is characterised by the zygomatic bone and the zygomatic arch complex, the nose and the upper jaw. The prominence of the cheeks can be enhanced with implantations, such as Goretex and Medpor. The implants are introduced via the oral cavity access path, thus avoiding the need for external incisions.
The same applies for the lower third of the face. A retracted chin emphasises the size of the nose. Conversely, a prominent chin makes the middle third of the face appear smaller.
The harmonisation of the chin and the entire face brings about a remarkable aesthetic improvement. Chin enlargements cab be achieved by a translocation of the inherent jawbone or with the use of foreign materials. Chin reductions are achieved by the resection of the jawbone. Of course, here no access is required from outside, so that there is no scar formation. For the corrective surgery of a double chin, it is necessary to assess the chin profile, as a receding chin usually falls short of aesthetically pleasing form.
